Match Preview

Since booking their World Cup spot in Qatar with a playoff win over Ukraine earlier this month, Wales have put in spirited performances against the Netherlands and Belgium in their section of the League of Nations.

And when they meet the Dutch in Rotterdam, they can once again make life difficult for their opponents, who have taken seven points from their three matches in the competition.

After their playoff triumph, Wales came on minutes after earning a draw with Louis van Gaal’s men in Cardiff, scoring a 92nd-minute equalizer, only to concede in the 94th minute to lose 2-1 .

But Rob Page’s men followed that up with a 1-1 draw against Belgium and bettors should again be anticipating both of these sides scoring at De Kuip.

While the Netherlands had few problems in the final third, scoring eight goals in their three Nations League matches, they looked shaky at the back in a 2-2 draw with Poland the last time and the absence of Virgil van Dijk was noticeable.

At the other end of the pitch, competition for places means they are unlikely to fall flat, with exciting striker Cody Gakpo set to enter the squad for this game.

Both sides to score have clicked in six of the Netherlands’ last seven matches in all competitions, including friendlies, and it looks like a tempting bet in this key Nations League fight.

Key stat

Both teams have scored in all five of the Netherlands’ matches in 2022.
