The Gujarat Titans showed no sign of season one nervousness after winning eight of their nine games in their debut IPL campaign.
A feature of their success were some standout late performances, notably when Rahul Tewatia hit two sixes with 12 runs needed on two balls against Tuesday’s opponents, the Punjab Kings.
The Kings have been blowing hot and cold since that loss and have some work to do to qualify for the playoffs, but they certainly have the personnel to do it, especially at the top of the order.
While Gujarat’s lower order played for the new boys, Punjab’s strength is at the top of their batting unit, where India flyhalf Shikhar Dhawan is followed by England stars Jonny Bairstow and Liam Livingstone.
Although underdogs to win the match, Punjab are narrow favorites to hit over sixes at DY Patil Stadium and that might be the best way into the game for bettors.
