Tuesday betting preview

Lincoln struggled to pull away from relegation from League One but they can make a decisive move by registering a home win against fourth-placed Morecambe.

It’s been a tough season for Lincoln, who was in contention for much of the 2020-21 campaign.

However, they did decent business in January and are seeing an immediate return on their investment in centre-forward John Marquis.

The 29-year-old has scored in three successive games since arriving from Portsmouth and appears to have provided the missing link to an attack blessed with pace from Morgan Whittaker and Anthony Scully.

Lincoln needs to tighten up at the back and miss centre-back Joe Walsh, but their thrilling attack should put them ahead of Morecambe, who were devastated to concede an injury-time goal in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home against Bolton.

The Shrimps impressed in appalling conditions against the Trotters but they haven’t won on the road in six tries and could find themselves empty-handed.

Gillingham have shown huge improvement in their opening two games under new manager Neil Harris and they can record a vital victory over Cambridge in the mid-table.

Lowly Gills posted a 1-0 success at home to Crewe last Tuesday and they performed even better in a tough 1-0 defeat at Ipswich on Saturday.

Harris’ side were the better side for long stretches against Ipswich and they might have better luck against Cambridge, who are starting to look a bit tired after a busy run of games.

Mark Bonner’s side exited the FA Cup with a 3-0 home loss to Luton on Saturday and they could be heading for a third straight loss.

Ligue 1 top flight MK Dons have had a good run and can claim six out of seven wins as they beat relegation-threatened Fleetwood.

The Dons have won three away games in a row and look too strong for the Cod Army, which has gone four games without a win.

Tranmere sat second in League Two last month and they can further cement the position with a win over Swindon.

Rovers are aiming for a seventh win in eight league games at home, while struggling Swindon have won one in seven since New Year’s Day.
