The 2023 Champions League final is almost a year away, but the long journey to Istanbul begins on Tuesday with the semi-finals of the preliminary qualifying round.
Four teams – Vikingur, Levadia Tallinn, La Fiorita and Inter Escaldes – will face off in the Icelandic capital Reykjavik in a play-in style tournament for the sole space on offer in the first qualifying round.
The winners of Tuesday’s semi-finals advance to Friday’s final and all three games are expected to be competitive betting series.
Andorran champions Inter Escaldes are set to send San Marino’s best La Fiorita to the first semi-final but haven’t been in great form lately, especially away from home them, and have little price appeal.
In the second half, Vikingur seemed to have the advantage – all three matches in the preliminary round were played at home – for their meeting with Estonian Levadia Tallinn.
However, the Icelandic side have leaked plenty of goals domestically this year and could see their Champions League challenge end early with the more organized Levadia.
