PITTSBURGH – Linebacker Aaron Reed (McKees Rocks, PA / Montour) was one of four Northeastern Conference players named to the 2013 College Sports Journal freshman squad.

Reed, who was named in the second team, was tied for the lead with Duquesne with 74 tackles early in 11 games at the NEC co-champions inside linebacker.

Reed, who was joined in the squad by NEC members, center Bryant Aubrey Beal (2nd squad offense), Sacred Heart quarterback RJ Noel (squad 1st offense) and linebacker Sacred Heart James Rentz (1st team defense), is the first DU player to be named to the CSJ All-Freshman squad which is in its third year of existence.

The All-Freshman team was selected by a panel of FCS experts brought together by College Sports Journal Editor-in-Chief David Coulson and CSJ Editor and Editor-in-Chief Chuck Burton. Coulson has 36 years of college football experience, including 21 seasons to follow FCS, and was editor and managing partner of College Sporting News and executive director of The Sports Network, which ran its national awards program from 2007 to 2009.
